Mornington Peninsula Skin Health

From acne to collagen induction therapy, we can look after your skin needs

There's no doubt, the hot Australian sun is notorious for damaging our skin, especially those with a fair complexion.

Protecting yourself from that damage and supporting adequate skin conditioning is important for preventing sun spots, sun related skin cancers and other issues. It is also helpful in preventing the signs of ageing such as discolouration of skin tone, reddening tones of the skins, fine wrinkles and more.

Our doctors and nurses cover many aspects of Mornington Peninsula skin health.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a bothersome condition affecting the face. It consists of acne like lesions, reddening and inflammation of the skin, usually around your eyes, nose and cheeks. Topical treatment can support the condition, but adequate skin care as well as optimising your diet and nutrition can complement the treatment program, offering better chances of success.

Acne

Thanks to changing hormones and skin function, acne is a common issue during teenage years. But, acne often extends past this time and can affect a person's self-esteem and confidence as an adult. The tone and treatment of your skin can make a big difference to improving the condition. Working on both your body from the inside and the outside is best for optimal results. Acne scarring can also be treated at Whole Medicine with some new innovative skin reconditioning treatments such as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT). This induction therapy can support the reconditioning of your skin as well as remodelling of mild to moderate acne scarring.

Eczema

Eczema is a common condition, especially in childhood and for some it can be a lifelong affliction. Finding the right answers can be tricky in some cases. Skin care and skin products make a big difference to the tone and condition of your skin. Working on your body holistically and addressing things from multiple angles can help. At Whole Medicine, we use a range of products called Dermaviduals. This is a practitioner only brand with no emulsifiers or additives. It is pure and supports your skin by nourishing the various different layers and supporting skin healing.

Anti-Wrinkle Treatments

Anti-wrinkle injections are a popular treatment for men and women. We inject small amounts of botulinum toxin in the muscle underlying the skin to relax the muscle. The treatment lasts about three months. Administration of anti-wrinkle treatment is best done by experienced doctors, who understand the need for optimal care and safety.

Scarring

Mild scarring can be treated by up-regulating the underlying skin's collagen production. Collagen is the substance that gives skin tone, elasticity, plumpness and structure. We can stimulate its production using innovative treatments such as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT). This machine provides the stimulation your skin needs to re-grow. The treatment consists of three separate treatments, four to six weeks apart. Results are not immediate, but occur over the following months.

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks can now be both treated and prevented. Stretch marks often come during times of growth such as pregnancy and the teenage years. Your skin during this time, when stretched, doesn't have the rejuvenating factors needed to prevent marks. For some people stretch marks can be unsightly, resulting in poor self-esteem. Now, using the latest technology, we can provide your skin more growth factors to repair any scarring and rejuvenate your skin. (See platelet rich plasma).

Collagen Induction Therapy

Collagen induction therapy is used for issues such as acne scarring, stretch marks, rosacea, fine lines and supporting skin elasticity. It is a treatment that takes about 45-minutes. It is done four to six weeks apart in a set of three treatments. Results naturally happen over the preceding months. The collagen is activated by rolling micro needles under your skin to stimulate the collagen layers. Unlike laser there is no down time, risk of discolouration or burn. It is a safe intervention that complements a good skin care regime.
