Mornington Peninsula Prevention Medicine

Here’s why prevention medicine is so important in our community

There's no doubt, prevention is the most important, economically sustainable and practical solution for everyone's health.

Working to prevent ill physical and mental health is at the core of everything we do at Whole Medicine.

Most of the time prevention has to do with lifestyle, but sometimes it's about screening or finding out the health risks that are particular to you.

By helping you to better understand your health, we hope you feel empowered to make the changes needed to help you live a long and happy life

Alfred Health's new campaign, Right Word. Right Time. (RWRT), challenges health professionals to talk with their patients about preventing chronic disease and making positive changes towards a healthier lifestyle.

Nine out of 10 deaths in Australia are caused by chronic disease. Chronic diseases are largely preventable.

Without intervention, the burden on the individual and the health care system is expected to worsen.

Every year, nine out of 10 people in Australia see a health professional. Health services and health professionals can provide authoritative and however this does not occur routinely.

RWRT challenges health professionals to raise the topic of prevention, including alcohol, physical activity, diet and smoking, with their patients.
